Job Description

Head Start Teacher Aide, Syracuse west side
LOCATION
1125 WEST
GENESEE STREET, SYRACUSE REPORTS TO
SITE
SUPERVISOR SCHEDULE
FULL-TIME, weekdays 7:30am to 3:30pm, 42 weeks per year with 10-week temporary unpaid layoff each summer. Paid leave includes all federal holidays and December/February/April school district breaks, plus additional accumulated paid leave.
STARTING PAY RATE
$16.38 PER
HOUR QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or GED. One year of experience working with preschoolers in a group setting. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure that all children assigned to classroom are supervised at all times. Perform regular counts of assigned children to ensure that all are accounted for. 2. Assist in implementing a child-centered, quality early childhood program, and providing a safe, warm and supportive atmosphere that will help support each child's individual growth and development as well as develop a continuing positive attitude toward learning. 4. Support the contribution of parent involvement and assist in the implementation of this in all aspects of the educational program. 5. Support and assist site staff as needed, including riding the school bus as a monitor, performing data entry duties, and assisting with observations and evaluations of children. 6. Report incidents or concerns of child abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
