Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Discover a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting students as a 1:1 paraprofessional in the Elmira, NY area this summer. Play a vital part in a dynamic summer school program, working closely with individual students to provide encouragement, academic assistance, and a positive learning experience during the most active weeks of the year.
Key Qualifications:
Current and active New York State certification for Teacher Assistants required Prior experience in one-on-one support roles within educational settings is highly desirable Compassion, patience, and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of students Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to reliably work Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 2 PM, between July 6th and August 14th, 2026
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct, individualized support to assigned students, helping them access the summer curriculum Implement strategies set by teachers and related service providers to meet academic and behavioral goals Participate in classroom activities, adapting approaches as needed for your assigned student Help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment Document progress and communicate with the instructional team as necessary Assist with personal care or mobility needs if required for the student assigned Follow all program, district, and state guidelines Benefit from a competitive hourly rate of $18-20, along with weekly pay and eligibility for healthcare benefits.
