Work Hours:
Monday•Friday 8:00am-2:45pm (Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Saratoga Springs) A Teacher Aide is employed for positions which are created for the main purpose of relieving schoolteachers of that part of their duties, which, while related to the teaching process, can be performed by non-professional personnel. Teacher Aides may not perform the teaching duties of regular teachers, even if they hold a teaching license or certificate. The duties of this class differ from those of School Monitor due to the more complex nature of the assignments that are performed. The duties of School Monitor are generally quite limited in scope, whereas those of a teacher's aide often require specific skills or abilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of an administrator or a member of the teaching staff. Does related work as required. Assisting in the preparation of classroom materials; Supporting student(s) with individual needs, including behavioral management and physical care tasks; Assist and supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times; Assist in clerical duties within the classroom/building; Work one-on-one or in small groups with students on tasks, projects or assignments; Help maintain an organized and engaging classroom environment; Assist with data collection, record keeping or other tasks related to classroom activities; Communicate regularly with the teacher to provide information about students and support behavioral and instructional goals; Collaborate with a team to develop, implement and review support plans for students; Maintain confidentiality of student information and records; Participate in staff development and training to maintain or develop increased professional knowledge; Other such duties as assigned.
