Job Description

Teaching Assistant (26-27)
DUTIES:
Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a Teaching Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year to assist classroom teachers in the instruction and management of students with disabilities and have the ability to conduct class in the teacher's absence. This appointment will include a 4-year probationary period and lead to a possible recommendation for Tenure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher (Special Education preferred) required.
CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED
Must be able to form positive relationships with students. Experience teaching students with various disabilities, especially those transitioning to adult services, preferred. Experience with job readiness preparation preferred. Must be highly organized, dedicated, and able to work independently and in multiple teams. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
