Today Job Description Building Instructional Assistant--Slate Hill One full-time Building Instructional Assistant to work 7.00 hrs per day, Monday through Friday, on an 186-day calendar. Responsible for assisting in the instructional program at a school.
Job Duties:
Tutors small groups of students on specific skills such as reading or math Tutors individual students on specific learning concepts Assists in classroom by answering individual student's questions while they are working on assignments Administers first aid and contacts parents of ill or injured students, makes arrangements to transport ill or injured students to the hospital or their home when the nurse is not in the building Administers medications to pupils consistent with District policies and pupil IEPs Assists in creating hall displays, bulletin boards, posters, etc. Assists in administering and scoring examinations Greets and assists visitors to the building Contacts parents on student absences Attends individual parent-teacher conferences, if requested Monitors students at the site and/or field trips Keyboards study materials, classroom materials, examinations, attendance, newsletters, and correspondence Cuts stencils and operates copying, laminating, fax, printers, and other office equipment Occasionally monitors a class during a brief period during the day when a teacher is required to leave With direction from a teacher, the assistant may monitor an individual or small group of students outside of the immediate classroom environment Provides instructional technology assistance to teachers as teachers work with students in the classroom and labs Provides building site assistance on technical issues through support and contact with Computer Services Assists with state and district site testing coordination

Ability to communicate with and relate well to students, staff, and parents Ability to follow written and oral instructions Skill in organization Ability to contribute to the positive personal-social development of students Ability to keyboard and use a computer Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others Salary Range $24.23/hr to $30.76/hr.
