Instructional Support Lead Mentor Linden Life Learning & Literacy (L4) Columbus, OH Job Details Part-time $15 - $18 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Student supervision Teamwork Working with students Literacy education Classroom Teaching Full Job Description Job Overview The Instructional Support Mentor plays a key role in promoting student success by providing consistent academic, emotional, and spiritual support both inside and outside the classroom. This position is responsible for supporting a small group of students by reinforcing literacy instruction taught by the Lead Teacher during whole-class instruction. Mentors help promote a positive workplace culture by modeling Christ-centered values in daily interactions with students and staff while helping students learn about God in a structured, fun and supportive environment. This role is essential to fulfilling the program's mission to grow readers and disciples through love, structure, and alongside caring consistent adults.
Responsibilities:
  • Support a small group of students by reinforcing literacy strategies introduced by the Lead Teacher and providing guided instruction to help meet program reading goals.
  • Use GRIP to guide student behavior through restorative practices that align with program expectations.
  • Meet weekly with the Lead Teacher and Academic Lead to stay aligned on student progress and instructional goals.
  • Assist with enrichment activities, meals, and transitions, offering encouragement, structure, and redirection to support a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings (first Monday of each month) and collaborate with classroom leads and team members to implement training and monitor student progress.
  • Participate in annual orientation and ongoing training sessions as scheduled by the Program Director.
  • Communicate consistently and professionally using the BAND app, following all program communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to identify challenges and propose solutions that strengthen student experience and support outcomes.
  • Substitute as lead teacher if lead teacher is absent to meet program goals
  • Assist with operational tasks such as playground supervision, van ride-alongs, field trips, and special events (e.g., biannual celebrations).
  • Adhere to program attendance expectations by being present, on time, and fully engaged during scheduled workdays; no more than six absences permitted per program year.
  • Serve in a designated daily support role such as Playground Manager, Bathroom/Cleanup Coordinator, or Van Ride Monitor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year + of experience working with children, preferably in literacy or faith-based programs serving underserved communities
  • Ability to follow lesson structure and provide consistent behavioral support using a positive, student-centered approach
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and reliability in team settings
  • Alignment with L4's Christ-centered values and commitment to spiritual and academic development
