Swan Creek Position Overview:
We are seeking a calm, respectful, and nurturing individual to serve as a one-on-one assistant for a preschool-aged child within a Montessori environment. This role focuses on supporting the child's independence, concentration, and development while helping them fully access the prepared environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized, one-on-one support to a preschool-aged child during the morning work cycle Guide the child in engaging with the prepared environment and making purposeful work choices Support the child in following classroom routines, including transitions, grace and courtesy, and care of self/environment Foster independence by offering appropriate guidance while allowing the child to do as much as possible on their own Encourage respectful peer interactions and model positive social behaviors Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement individualized support strategies aligned with Montessori philosophy Observe and document the child's progress, behaviors, and developmental needs as directed Maintain a calm, consistent, and respectful presence in the classroom
Qualifications:
Experience working with preschool-aged children (Montessori experience preferred) Understanding of or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy and practices Patient, observant, and respectful approach to working with children Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to follow direction and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit on the floor, move throughout the classroom, and actively engage with children Ability to lift up to 30 lbs if needed
