Job Description

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on students' lives every day? Wilmington City Schools is seeking dynamic, collaborative, and adaptable Educational Aides to join our team. In this role, you will be a vital partner to our teaching staff, working directly with individual students and small groups to reinforce lessons, boost engagement, and ensure every child has the support they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities (What You'll Do)
Differentiated Student Support:
Work 1-on-1 or in small breakout groups to reinforce instructional concepts, read with students, and implement tailored strategies that match individual learning styles and abilities.
Classroom Synergy:
Partner with lead teachers to maintain a smooth, organized, and positive learning environment. Assist with routine tasks like attendance, material inventory, and managing classroom tech/equipment.
Assessment & Feedback Support:
Help monitor student progress by checking assignments, supervising make-up work, and keeping accurate records.
Mentorship & Community:
Serve as a positive role model, helping students develop social-emotional skills, ethical values, and constructive peer relationships. Act as a welcoming point of contact for families when requested. What We Are Looking For (Qualifications & Skills)
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus documented experience working with children.
Growth Mindset:
A desire to learn from experience, accept feedback, and actively acquire new instructional and technological skills.
Communication & Collaboration:
Excellent active listening and clear verbal communication skills. A team-first attitude that builds trust with staff and students alike.
Adaptability:
Strong time-management skills and a "bias for action" when navigating a fast-paced school day. Patience and self-confidence when managing occasionally challenging behavior or student needs. Working Conditions & Environment Standard school environment with a vibrant, collaborative community. Must be comfortable with occasional physical demands typical of a school setting (e.g., active movement, managing classroom materials) and occasional interaction with unruly student behavior or basic first-aid situations.
