Job Description

SCHOOL AGE ASSISTANT TEACHER
(Temporary Summer Position) Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for current and future openings. Qualified candidates may be contacted as positions become available.
Position Term:
Mid-May through Mid-August The School-Age Assistant Teacher reports directly to and is primarily responsible to the Education Director of the Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The School Age Assistant Teacher will perform the following duties: Assist with planning and implementing activities in accordance with curriculum objectives and program goals. Meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child. Support lead teachers in classroom activities and supervision. Assist with field trips and special summer activities. Help prepare and implement weekly lesson plans in accordance with Oklahoma Early Learning Guidelines. Maintain daily open communication with parents and guardians. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Report suspected abuse or neglect immediately to the Education Director. Help maintain a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions. Complete required training hours and licensing requirements applicable to temporary staff positions. Maintain attendance records and other required documentation as assigned. Follow all Oklahoma licensing regulations and Center policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by administration. Available for all field trips Qualifications Must meet the following requirements: High School Diploma or GED preferred Must pass a criminal history investigation and all required background checks Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned job responsibilities Recognizes and acts to correct hazards to physical safety, both indoors and outdoors Works with children without recourse to physical punishment, mistreatment, or abuse Demonstrates good judgment and responsible behavior that ensures the health and safety of children Sensitive to the needs of children and families Dependable and professional Ability to work effectively as part of a team Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and/or carry children up to 70 pounds Position requires bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, and walking Running may be required in emergency situations to assist a child
