Little Axe Dr. / Norman, OK 73026 General Description The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and helps care for children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.
Responsibilities & Duties General:
Help care for children and keep them safe Be professional, flexible, and positive Follow schedules and notify the Director when sick Keep records confidential Support team goals and classroom cleanliness Work with the team and follow the center's philosophy Other duties as assigned Responsibilities regarding
Children:
Welcome children and help them feel comfortable Supervise children at all times Observe and share daily updates with parents Support learning through age-appropriate activities Encourage good habits and routines (e.g., meals, nap time) Report concerns about children to the Lead Teacher Watch for signs of illness and act accordingly Other duties as assigned Responsibilities regarding
Administration:
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. Share suggestions and communicate concerns to Master Teacher and Director. Complete required paperwork. Report suspected child abuse as required by law. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Qualifications Must have the following qualifications: At least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED.
Meet one of the following:
6 ECE/ECD credits + 6 months teaching experience. 3 ECE/ECD credits + 1 year teaching experience. CDA or similar credential + 1 year experience. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and transportation. Able to bend, kneel, and lift children as required. Pass a criminal background check. Working Conditions Must be able to stoop, crawl, kneel, and bend in order to speak to children at the child's eye level, to play with children, and to pick up toys/equipment off the floor. Must be able to lift, carry, and hold children:
Infant and Toddler Teachers:
up to 36 pounds
Two-Year Old Teachers:
up to 50 pounds
Preschool Teachers:
