This role assists teachers with lesson implementation, supports small-group and individual instruction, and helps maintain a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment for elementary students. Position Details 10-Month Contract Exempt Position 187 working days for new employees Qualifications Associate's degree or minimum of 45 college credit hours required Candidates without an associate's degree must be actively enrolled in a degree-seeking program Bachelor's degree preferred Must obtain and pass the paraprofessional certification exam within 60 days of employment Proficiency in Microsoft Office and instructional technology platforms Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and time-management abilities Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Flexible availability for occasional irregular hours Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support Assist teachers with lesson implementation using hands-on, cooperative, and developmentally appropriate learning strategies Support student intervention and remediation efforts Reinforce foundational academic skills and assist students with assignments Adapt support methods to meet diverse learning needs Utilize instructional technology to support student learning Encourage student engagement, participation, and positive classroom behavior Classroom & Student Supervision Arrive 30 minutes before the first bell and remain on duty through dismissal Provide continuous student supervision throughout the school day Support enforcement of school policies, dress code, and student handbook expectations Supervise student transitions, recess, lunch, dismissal, and assigned duty locations Monitor appropriate student technology use Identify and report safety concerns promptly Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment Collaboration & Administrative Support Assist with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom organization Support instructional planning and maintain assigned schedules Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote student success Communicate effectively regarding duties, schedules, and classroom coverage Assist in identifying students needing additional academic or behavioral support Support a positive and professional school culture Compliance & Professional Expectations Maintain strict confidentiality of student and school information Report suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct according to state law and school policy Participate in required trainings, observations, and staff meetings Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and strong work ethic Respond to communication within 24 business hours Maintain professional boundaries and appropriate workplace conduct Follow employee handbook guidelines, including professional dress standards Support and uphold ASTEC Charter Schools' mission, vision, and core values Additional Duties Support school-wide programs, events, and operational needs Assist with supervision duties outside the classroom as assigned Complete required documentation accurately and on time Provide classroom or duty coverage as needed Perform other duties assigned by the Headmaster or Superintendent About ASTEC Charter Schools ASTEC Charter Schools is committed to fostering excellence through our core values of Content, Competency, Character, and Community.
