Requirements:
High School diploma or GED, plus ONE of the following: Posses and Associates Degree or higher OR Completed at a minimum of 48 credit hours at an institution or higher education OR Obtain a passing score on the paraprofessional test
Position Summary:
As a teacher assistant, the primary responsibility is to assist the classroom teacher with activities and learning exercises and help maintain a friendly, inclusive atmosphere for all students. Teh teacher assistant will work with small groups of students, as well as one on one with students to support instruction and provide assistance with behavioral needs. The teacher assistant will assist in preparing materials for lessons, monitor students, perform clerical duties, monitor the playground and cafeteria, and help keep the building tidy and safe.
Essential Duties:
Collaborate with the classroom teacher to reinforce instruction and facilitate learning Create a positive learning environment suitable for the students' age and interests Arrange and prepare materials for instructional activities Help enforce behavioral standards for students Monitor and provide assistance to students as required Assist the classroom teacher with assigned tasks Ensure the safety of students, equipment and facilities Assist in general housekeeping duties Support classroom management to maintain order Perform various clerical tasks Participate in daily duty schedules Perform other duties as assigned
