Position Summary:
Assists teaching staff with various duties in the preschool classrooms in accordance with grant standards, childcare licensing regulations, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), OCDC's policies and procedures and other applicable standards. Helps to maintain a healthy and safe classroom environment. May provide coverage for child/teacher ratios when teaching staff must leave the classroom for breaks, meetings, and/or planning time.
Essential Functions:
Support teaching staff in maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing preschool classroom environment Supervise preschool‑age children in classrooms and on playgrounds using positive guidance techniques Assist with daily routines, including toileting, dressing, meals, and transitions to and from the classroom Help implement daily classroom activities such as free play, story time, and learning centers Maintain classroom cleanliness, including disinfecting toys and furniture and replenishing supplies Communicate respectfully and positively with children, families, and staff Support dual language classroom activities, as applicable Assist with basic record keeping and classroom documentation as assigned Provide classroom coverage to maintain child‑to‑teacher ratios during staff breaks or short absences (as qualifications allow) Maintain regular and reliable attendance Perform other related duties as assigned

93 hourly in Metro locations) High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria AND Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate; or 1 year Oregon community college certificate (college certificate is equivalent to ORO step 8 in field) WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on development of preschool age children Metro locations include Washington County and Multnomah County sites. Placement within the range is determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
