Job Summary:
The Hospice team is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and determined candidate to fill our Program Assistant role. Program Assistant supports Hospice, and Pete Moore Hospice House and will act as a liaison for our Patients, Volunteers, and Leadership. The ideal candidate must have Medical Office Experience, excellent oral and written communication, and be able to organize multiple priorities in a short period of time.
Education & License Requirements:
High school graduate or G.E.D. required, business school graduate preferred.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Must have at least one year of clerical experience, medical office background preferred. Must possess proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite (EXCEL, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Experience working in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience in hospice, home health, long-term care, or other healthcare environments preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations. Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical team members. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Essential Job Functions:
Function as an engaged, collaborative, flexible, team player. Operate all standard office business machines. Cover incoming telephone calls. Managing patient records, admissions paperwork, physician orders, and hospice documentation in compliance with Medicare and regulatory requirements Route incoming and outgoing faxes, including physician orders through Outlook. Monitoring and prioritizing urgent requests while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Maintain inventories and orders office and medical supplies. Assisting leadership teams with special projects, audits, education tracking, and program organization Work independently with a Self-starter and motivated approach. Utilize strong organizational skills with good memory for numbers and names. Communicate in an objective, tactful, and diplomatic manner with staff, patients, families, and visitors. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work at a varied pace with accuracy. Demonstrating sensitivity, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with individuals experiencing serious illness, grief, or crisis Maintain working knowledge and proficiency in Home Care data systems and MS Office Suite, with data entry skills. Other duties as assigned.
