July 1, 2026 Linfield University is seeking an Assistant Director & Lead Teacher - Pre-Kindergarten to support the operation of the Linfield Pre-Kindergarten program while serving as a Lead Teacher for preschool classrooms. This role combines teaching responsibilities with program coordination, assisting in the direction of the program while supporting student learning, staff supervision, and collaboration with university interns and families. Job Summary Perform principal role as Lead Teacher in the instruction of two classes of preschool-age children. Perform Teacher role with two other classes of preschool-age children. Assist in the direction and coordination of the Linfield Pre-Kindergarten program. As Lead Teacher, provide instruction and coordination for work-study and practicum students in two classes. Teaching Serve as Lead Teacher for two classrooms and Teacher for two classrooms. Plan and execute daily lesson plans and activities for preschool students. Help set up and prepare for the school year. Lesson plan weekly with the teaching team. Prepare materials and classrooms for weekly lessons. Work with university interns, work-study staff, and student teachers. Maintain organization and inventory of classroom materials and equipment. Administrative Responsible for supervising and writing evaluations for university work-study students and teacher aides. Participate in Pre-Kindergarten staff meetings and Education Department meetings as needed. Assist with ongoing program and policy development. Assist with NAEYC accreditation preparation, documentation, and follow-up. Purchase educational and other supplies needed to operate the Pre-Kindergarten program. Participate in professional training. Parent Relations Communicate with parents via daily conversations and sign-in notes, as well as the parent wall, emails, newsletters, activities, and events. Keep frequent records and assessments of Pre-Kindergarten children to document developmental growth and share information with parents. Provide parent tours to familiarize families with the Pre-Kindergarten program. Conduct parent-teacher conferences for two groups of children. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in family studies or education with an early childhood education emphasis and two years of experience in an early childhood program, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Applicable Pre-Kindergarten concepts and teaching methods. Student assessment methods. Curriculum development. Classroom management principles and practices. NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP). Communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Registered in the Central Background Registry through the Department of Early Learning and Care. CPR and First Aid certifications. Food handler permit. Recognizing child abuse and neglect training. Yearly medical training that includes administration of EpiPen and other medications. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated familiarity with NAEYC accreditation requirements. State-approved teaching license.
