Districtwide, Elementary Schools FTE:
.50 (4 hours a day)
WORK SCHEDULE
CONTRACT DAYS:
193 work days plus 7 paid Holidays and 10 days of Vacation (prorated based on start date)
WAGES:
$20.67 - $28.61 per hour Range D of Classified Scale

Job Purpose Statement/s:
The job of Educational Assistant - Kindergarten is to assist a certificated teacher in the planning and implementation of instructional programs for kindergarten students in the general education setting.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist in the planning and implementing of learning experiences of students in the general education setting. Confer with teacher(s) to provide feedback on student learning. Interpret instructional plans within guidelines set by a certificated teacher. Instruct students in small groups and one-on-one settings with direct teacher oversight. Facilitate measures of student learning using District approved measures and assessments; record and maintain documentation of student learning. Inform and communicate with teachers regarding academic or disciplinary needs and supports. Support students in the development of positive interpersonal communication and relationships with peers and adults. Monitor and supervise students to maintain a safe and productive learning environment. Implement social-emotional learning and an inclusive learning community climate and environment, including a behavior management program as planned by the teacher and aligned with the District program.
Other Job Functions:
Attend in-service and workshop training related to the area of assignment and apply training to instructional responsibilities. Perform a variety of general clerical duties, including writing attendance reports, documenting student assessment results, and maintaining accurate files. Assist, as requested, in communication between students, teachers and parents. Perform related duties as assigned. Job Requirements -

Experience Preferred:
Prior job-related experience working with children in an academic setting. Skills, Knowledge and/or
Abilities Required:
General skills in English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. General knowledge in modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment, including computer hardware and software, as required by specific assignments. The principles, practices, and techniques of instruction related to the area of assignment. Proper childcare techniques and the techniques and methods of student supervision and classroom management. General abilities include working effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing. Deal in an empathetic manner with students within the area of assignment. Learn growth and development principles of students according to one's area of assignment. Learn basic first aid and safety requirements. Work in a team setting. Perform physical job tasks. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Learner orientation in development of an equity lens.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Complete two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtain an associate's degree or higher; demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment or para-educator certificate program. Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel. Reports to appropriate Principal.
