We serve children ages 2-5 years through a culturally responsive, Reggio Emilia and Constructivist-inspired curriculum that values children's interests, cultures, languages, and individual strengths. We are committed to building a welcoming, collaborative workplace where children, families, and staff feel respected, supported, and connected. ESP is also a Preschool for All (PFA) provider. Position Summary The Float Assistant Teacher provides support across both Every Step Preschool locations (NE 52nd Ave. and NE 48th Ave.) and works in different classrooms based on daily staffing needs. Responsibilities include classroom support, substitute coverage, supervising children, preparing activities, assisting with meals and rest time, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting children's learning and development. Schedule Flexible availability between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM , Monday-Friday. Daily schedule assigned based on program needs. Pay $22.00
00 per hour , depending on experience. Benefits (Employees regularly scheduled 20+ hours per week) Paid seasonal program closures Up to 5 paid sick days per year 8 paid professional development days 11 paid holidays Dental and Vision Insurance Essential Responsibilities Support teachers in all classrooms and provide substitute coverage. Supervise children and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. Assist with curriculum activities, classroom setup, meals, rest time, and outdoor play. Maintain attendance and classroom documentation. Support child observations and developmental assessments. Attend staff meetings and required trainings. Follow Oregon licensing regulations and ESP policies. Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director. Qualifications High School Diploma required; Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. Oregon Registry Step 4 or higher preferred. Experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early childhood program. Required Certifications Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR) Pediatric First Aid & CPR Oregon Food Handler Card Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety Foundations for Learning Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect Skills Strong communication and teamwork Flexible and dependable Organized and able to adapt to changing classroom needs Basic computer skills Bilingual or multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply Physical Requirements Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor with children, and actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
