The Role The Preschool Assistant Teacher (Float) supports the Playschool program by assisting across multiple classrooms serving children ages 2.5-6. This flexible role works closely with Lead Teachers to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment while helping deliver high-quality early childhood programming aligned with the MAC's mission. This position is primarily part-time (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-2:00pm) with the opportunity for additional hours based on availability. What You'll Do Support Lead Teachers across multiple classrooms with children ages 2.5-6 Assist in preparing and facilitating age-appropriate, engaging activities Provide a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment Supervise children and promote positive social, emotional, and developmental growth Maintain accurate attendance records and classroom documentation Communicate observations regarding children's development, behavior, and needs Model positive behavior and implement effective classroom management techniques Follow and enforce safety regulations and program policies Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Work collaboratively with staff to create a positive, team-oriented environment Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development (minimum 16 hours annually) Maintain consistent and reliable attendance What You'll Bring Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or at least one year of preschool classroom experience (preferred) CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) Ability to lift and carry children up to 50 lbs Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, families, and staff Sound judgment, patience, and professionalism in a dynamic classroom environment Flexibility and adaptability to work across age groups and classrooms A passion for early childhood education and fostering a love of learning Ability to build a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment What You'll Gain At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members.
