SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Summer School Site Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements both the Special Services Extended School Year and Special Education Summer Learning programs in alignment with district goals and provides technical assistance to teachers, paraeducators, and families to meet each student's needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Washington State Teaching Certificate.
Washington State Administrative Certificate (or acceptance into an administrative credential program).
Must be able to plan for and facilitate prep sessions (to occur prior to start of and during program).
Demonstrated competence for successful performance of the responsibilities listed.
Current Right Response certification. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS
Successful Special Education experience.
Experience with economically and culturally diverse populations.
Ability to structure time and manage multiple priorities independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Ability to work on an accelerated schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans and coordinates ESY and Recovery Summer Learning programs with Special Education Leadership Team.
Assists staff in creating a positive, culturally responsive and safe learning environment that addresses the needs of students.
Works collaboratively with other Site Coordinators and all summer school site personnel to support all activities related to summer school.
Collects pertinent data for effective planning and management (attendance, discipline records, academic progress, etc).
Provides on-site student supervision support as needed, including reaching out to families.
Supports the instructional preparation and planning of teaching personnel.
Maintains a support system for teachers and other program personnel.
Serves as a contact resource person for questions regarding summer school programming.
Follows district protocols on student discipline and safety-security.
Performs other tasks pertinent to achieving goals and objectives deemed necessary.

Use necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools, or software.
Follow district/school policies and the educational code of professional conduct.
Education and Experience
Academic preparation for or experience in teaching a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population. Specific programs may require additional academic preparation or professional experience.
Licenses/Special Requirements/Clearances
Successful clearance of criminal justice fingerprint and background check.
Some positions may require:
Valid First aid and CPR certification;
Valid Washington State driver's license and/or a Class II driver's license; and/or
Current and appropriate vaccination.
CONDITIONS
Required to deal with a wide range of student achievement and behavior. May experience frequent interruptions and must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. May be required to deal with distraught students/parents/staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and operate a computer/hand-held learning device, and other office equipment. This position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and reaching throughout the day. The employee may frequently use repetitive arm/hand motion and must occasionally lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may climb stairs or ride in elevators, depending on the worksite.
Environmental Factors
Moderate to loud noise levels.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Stipend of $9,619.00 for the following:
May 1: Coordinator Start Date
July 1-2: Staff Induction/Training
July 6-30: Support and Supervision (4 days a week, Monday - Thursday)
