1. Minimum two years post-secondary (48 credits), Associate Degree, or passing score on the Title I Paraprofessional Assessment test administered through I.U.5, preferred. 2. Computer and office skills required. 3. Good communication skills required. 4. Knowledge of middle school office, attendance, and library preferred. 5. Willingness to learn new software or equipment as needed. 6. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO
Building Principal JOB GOAL
Support the delivery of the educational program to students. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the teachers, as needed, with non-instructional duties, administering reading tests, and guiding and supervising students. Assist in the office with various duties as directed, i.e., front door security, phones, mailings, filing, document preparation, computer data entry, reports, supervising students etc. Assist in the attendance office, i.e., track daily student attendance, work with the principal on attendance problems, and compile excuses and absentee list daily. Assist in the library with duties as assigned by the principal/librarian. Greet visitors in a professional, friendly manner at the Welcome Window. Attend to building security procedures. Respond to daily building needs with flexibility and adaptability. Act as a positive role model through professional interactions with students throughout the school day. Supervise students in non-instructional settings as assigned by building principal. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or their designee. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit, talk, and hear. Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and move quickly when necessary to promote student learning and/or safety. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Ability to push items of 25 lbs. such as pushing children in a wheelchair or moving/rearranging furniture. SENSORY ABILITY
Ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone. Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screen. WORK ENVIRONMENT
