Job Description

DSP / Program Coordinator / Teacher Healthy, connected, and independent lives for adults with IDD and/or Autism through evidence-based teaching, community volunteering, adaptive recreation, and environmental stewardship. About KAN Community-rooted nonprofit in Kennett focused on adults with IDD (like Margot), combining direct support with innovative teaching, outdoor health programs, and conservation partnerships. Collaborates with local businesses/nonprofits and county, state, and national partners; competitive pay and a supportive, training-rich environment. Programs include walking-in-nature, e-bike active transportation, and inclusive conservation initiatives aligned with statewide efforts. The Opportunity Work directly with Margot and others; 35-50 hours/week of direct support across home and community settings Opportunities for growth for those with more specialized experienced and/or training: participation in state/national initiatives shaping accessible outdoors and disability inclusion;. help design/coordinate community-based programs. Work with experienced program leader / author / research: Google "Peter Doehring autism" and exploring my websites kanworks.org and kennettoutdoors.org What You'll Do (Day-to-Day) Deliver 1:1 direct support, training, and care in home and community; build consistent, resilient daily/weekly routines. Teach new skills using behavioral techniques; develop and run lessons with data collection, progress monitoring, video modeling, and fidelity checks. Document plans and progress; communicate closely with parents and teammates; support volunteer/work placements. Explore the outdoors togetehr via walking, hiking, biking Opportunities for growth for those with more specialized experienced and/or training: help manage partnerships with parks, land trusts, YMCAs, and local orgs. Qualifications Must be active, enthusiastic, empathetic Must have either: At least 3-5 years experience supporting adolescents/adults with Autism/IDD in established school, residential, or adult settings OR undergraduate degree in a related field (education, health, social work, and so on) with some hands on experience Must demonstrate experiences or skills in behavioral/teaching methods and ability to work independently in the field. Must be collaborative, organized, and community-minded; Schedule, Pay, and Growth Start as DSP at 30+ hrs/week (DSP at $25-$28.50/hr) to learn program Those with a degree may progress to a hybrid role as the program grows, with at least 10 hrs/week teaching/managing programs ($45-$50/hr) while continuing 20+ hrs/week DSP (then $28.50/hr). Additional stipend opportunities for managing specific projects Ample 1:1 training/coaching time; lesson planning/prep built into the schedule; minimal meetings/paperwork.
