Overview We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will support lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons and ensuring a positive classroom atmosphere. You will work closely with children of various ages and developmental stages, including those with disabilities or special needs, to promote their growth in literacy, math, social skills, and independence. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a joyful learning environment that celebrates diversity and individual potential. Duties Assist in implementing curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards and individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and facilitating behavior management strategies Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote literacy education, math skills, social-emotional development, and motor skills Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to support students with communication challenges Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment through effective classroom management techniques Collaborate with lead teachers to develop lesson plans that incorporate Montessori or other pedagogical approaches suitable for preschool and toddler care Support students with disabilities by adapting activities to meet their unique needs and fostering inclusive participation Qualifications Prior experience working with children in preschool, childcare, or early childhood education settings is preferred Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management strategies Familiarity with special education practices, including IEP implementation and behavior management techniques Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus but not required Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members Ability to adapt lesson plans for diverse learning needs and support inclusive classroom environments Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning atmosphere Join us at Small Wonders Academy where your dedication helps shape bright futures!
