Preschool Assistant Teacher

About Us Neffs UCC Preschool is a play-based preschool program serving children ages 3-5 in a warm, supportive, and community-focused environment. Our classrooms emphasize creativity, exploration, and social-emotional growth. Position Overview We are looking for a warm, reliable, and engaged Assistant Teacher who enjoys working with young children and actively supporting a classroom throughout the day. In this role, you will help create a nurturing, engaging environment while working closely with a lead teacher. What You'll Do Support the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, maintaining a calm, engaging classroom Interact with children throughout the day during play and routines Help with transitions, cleanup, and daily classroom needs Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and promoting a safe, inclusive environment for children with diverse needs Help with classroom organization, including preparing materials, setting up learning stations, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Assist in managing classroom routines such as snack time, transitions, and outdoor play to foster a structured yet flexible learning environment. What We're Looking For Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of early childhood development principles and special education techniques is advantageous. Familiarity with classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques to support children's social-emotional growth. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including toddlers and preschoolers. Strong communication, a collaborative approach, and reliable, consistent attendance Schedule & Pay School-year position (September-May) Morning hours (with paid prep time before and after class) 9 hours per week $15/hour Additional hours or responsibilities may become available for the right candidate, based on enrollment and program needs. Hiring Process Selected candidates will be invited to spend a short time in the classroom as part of the interview process.
