Job Description

Teacher Assistant/Para-Educator needed for our Keystone STARS accredited Early Intervention Pre-school Program, in the Fern Rock area. This building is easily accessible by public transportation and there is convenient parking.
SUMMARY:
The Paraprofessional is responsible for carrying out all appropriate tasks and assignments as designated by the classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma/GED plus 2 years relevant experience or CDA and relevant experience or Associate's degree with ECE coursework.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following and are also required to perform all other duties as assigned. Carry out any child development related assignments established by the classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director. Verbally report to and discuss with the classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director, observations of children (being aware of signs of illnesses or unusual behavior that are to be reported immediately). Lead, guide, direct, supervise and stimulate the children in indoor and outdoor activities as assigned by the classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director. Prepare equipment and supplies prior to arrival and as needed during the course of the day, for students as directed by classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director. Prepare and distribute snacks and assist in serving of meals. Sit with children during rest periods. Assist the children with toileting, toilet training, diapering, tooth brushing, dressing and other related personal care activities. Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training and other professional development programs. Assure health appraisal and regulatory certifications are current. Assist in conducting developmental testing and assessments as established by the classroom Teacher. Collect student progress data as directed by classroom Teacher. Be responsible for assisting the Teacher in implementing individualized educational plans for the students and working individually with the children as assigned by the classroom Teacher and/or Educational Director.
