Learning Support Classroom Teacher( Resource Room Gr. 3-4) Position Summary The Learning Support Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing individualized and small-group instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a faith-filled Catholic school environment. The teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, parents, and support personnel to ensure students receive appropriate academic interventions and accommodations that promote success while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. Foster a classroom environment rooted in Christian values, dignity, compassion, and respect for every learner.
Integrate faith into daily interactions and instruction when appropriate.
Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and other religious activities. Instructional Responsibilities Provide direct instruction to students requiring academic support in reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning skills.
Develop and implement individualized learning plans based on assessment data and student needs.
Differentiate instruction using research-based strategies and evidence-based interventions.
Utilize multisensory instructional approaches and assistive technology when appropriate.
Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on data.
Administer academic assessments and maintain accurate records of student growth.
Support students in developing organizational skills, study habits, self-advocacy, and independence. Collaboration Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and instructional strategies within the general education classroom.
Participate in Student Support Team (SST), MTSS, or other intervention meetings.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and recommended interventions.
Collaborate with school counselors, specialists, and outside service providers when appropriate.
Assist teachers in developing classroom supports for students with learning differences. Student Support Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and capable of success.
Encourage students' confidence, perseverance, and personal responsibility.
Support students' social-emotional development through positive relationships and encouragement.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and learning needs. Professional Responsibilities Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and diocesan in-service programs.
Stay current on best practices in special education, learning support, intervention strategies, and educational technology.
Maintain professional communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction, intervention programs, and progress monitoring.
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
Commitment to the mission of Catholic education. Master's degree in Special Education or Reading.
Special Education certification.
Experience with MTSS, Response to Intervention (RTI), or similar intervention frameworks.
Experience using evidence-based literacy and mathematics intervention programs.
