Roman Catholic High School Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Learning Support to join our educational team at Roman Catholic High School. This position involves providing specialized educational support to students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the academic success and overall well-being of our students through personalized instruction, collaboration with Administration, Admissions, teachers and parents, and implementation of effective learning strategies and executive functioning skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Support o Provide individualized instruction and support to students with identified needs, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, and other diagnosed conditions.

o Interpret psychoeducational evaluations, IEPs, and 504 plans to create and implement effective accommodation and support plans. o Teach executive functioning skills to improve organization, study habits, and time management. o Administer and monitor testing accommodations for students within the program. o Conduct weekly check ins with identified students to ensure that they are managing their workload and to offer support as needed

Teacher Collaboration:

o Work closely with classroom teachers as the liaison between general education courses and the learning support room. o Develop and implement formal and informal professional development for classroom teachers regarding best practices for inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and Universal Design for Learning. o Develop resources for teachers for accommodation implementation and instructional strategies as needed

• Admissions Collaboration o Work closely with the Admissions Director to evaluate the needs of incoming students with IEPs/504s to determine whether Roman can meet those needs.

o Meet regularly with the Admissions Director and Assistant Principal for Academics to evaluate the applications of incoming students with IEPs and 504s o Provide the Admissions team with recommendations regarding admission for those students

• Administration Collaboration o Partner with the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs to review student progress and program efficacy o Partner with school leadership to assess current learning support services and identify gaps or areas for growth. o Attend and participate in monthly Academic Council Meetings and Faculty Meetings

Parental Engagement:

o Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.

Program Development:

o Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the learning support program. o Research, propose, and help implement innovative models of support that are scalable and sustainable within the school context.

Assessment and Evaluation:

o Identify and track key data points to evaluate student progress o Maintain detailed records of student progress and program effectiveness. o Create, maintain and update student support plans on PowerSchool. o Track timeline compliance with documentation, including IEPs, 504s, and psychoeducation evaluations.

Qualifications:

Education:

o Preferred master's degree in special education, Educational Psychology, or related field. o State certification in Special Education required.

Experience:

o Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a high school setting. o Experience in reading and interpreting special education documentation.

Skills:

o Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, executive functioning, and effective instructional strategies. o Ability to apply adult learning principles to design and deliver effective teacher professional development o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and staff. o Ability to manage time effectively. o Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive tools.
