Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and organized Instructional Assistant to join our middle school team. This role is a unique hybrid position that allows the candidate to support both the student body and our administrative operations. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains a calm demeanor, and values the importance of student advocacy and professional confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Student & Dean of Students Support (Primary Focus) The majority of your workday will be dedicated to supporting the instructional environment and the Dean of Students. You will serve as a key point of contact for student needs and operational support.
Duties include:
Instructional Support:
Assisting teachers with classroom management, supervising student transitions, and facilitating small group activities when necessary.
Dean's Office Operations:
Assisting the Dean of Students with student supervision, monitoring hallway and common areas, and supporting restorative or disciplinary processes.
Student Advocacy:
Serving as a trusted adult for students, helping them navigate school expectations, and ensuring a safe and positive school culture. Front Office Support (Daily Focus) For two hours each day, you will transition to the front office to ensure the smooth operation of our school's main hub.
Duties include:
Visitor Management:
Greeting parents, staff, and visitors with a welcoming, professional attitude.
Administrative Tasks:
Managing phones, distributing messages, assisting with attendance record-keeping, and handling routine office duties.
Operational Readiness:
Maintaining a organized workspace to support the needs of the school staff and community. Confidentiality and Privacy In this role, you will have access to sensitive information regarding students, families, and personnel. Maintaining strict confidentiality is a fundamental requirement of this position. You must adhere to all school district policies and federal laws (such as FERPA) regarding the privacy and protection of student records and personal information. Discretion is required at all times, both inside and outside of the school setting.
Requirements & Qualifications Interpersonal Skills:
A patient, positive, and proactive approach to working with middle school-aged students.
Reliability:
A track record of punctuality and attendance.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Adaptability:
Ability to switch between high-energy student interactions and focused administrative tasks seamlessly.
Integrity:
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and private information with professionalism.
Education:
Candidate must have 48 college hours or pass the

7.5 hours per day, 7:20 AM - 2:50
