Job Description
Finance Assistant, Office of Academic Affairs (Non-Teaching Adjunct 1) - Part-Time
The Finance Assistant works collaboratively with academic and administrative stakeholders to help ensure effective and efficient financial operations and processes, and alignment with the University's academic priorities. Key duties include, but will not be limited to the following: + Support day-to-day financial operations by processing OAA budget transfers, requisitions, expense reimbursements, and resolving budget inquiries in a timely and accurate manner. + Assist in the development and maintenance of annual and multi-year budgets by compiling data, tracking allocations, and preparing supporting documentation. + Monitor departmental expenditures and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis; identify trends, discrepancies, and potential risks, and escalate issues as appropriate. + Analyze financial and personnel data to support forecasting of Personnel Services (PS) and Other Than Personnel Services (OTPS) expenditures. + Assist in preparing internal financial reports, dashboards, and summaries to support leadership decision-making. + Manage coordination of part-time reappointment process across OAA departments and programs, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with University policies and deadlines. + Maintain and update financial records, tracking tools, and internal databases to ensure data integrity and audit readiness. + Contribute to the development of guidelines, documentation, and reference materials to support internal finance processes, business processes, training, and workshops. + Support continuous improvement efforts by assisting with process mapping, data validation, and the identification of efficiencies and internal control enhancements related to personnel and financial workflows. + Work collaboratively with the University Budget Office, Central Office Human Resources and OAA leadership to research and resolve budgetary and personnel-related matters. + Perform other duties as assigned in support of OAA Finance operations.

- Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
- Within the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) located at the Central Office, the Finance Team plays a vital role in advancing the City University of New York (CUNY)'s mission by ensuring the effective stewardship of academic resources, supporting strategic budgetary planning, and maintaining compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

NOTE:
- Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred:
+ Strong data entry skills and attention to detail. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools. + Basic understanding of budgeting principles. + Effective written and communication skills. + Prior experience in financial and administrative support is preferred.COMPENSATION
- The hourly rate is
- $51.94
- /hr at up to 15 hours per week.
- Effective 9/1/26, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.
PSC-CUNY
