This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, patient intake, and familiarity with optical and ophthalmology practices. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake, including gathering medical history and vital signs. Assist in the examination process by preparing patients and ensuring an aseptic technique. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using EMR systems such as Epic. Provide support during eye examinations and assist the optometrist as needed. Educate patients on proper eye care, eyewear options, and post-examination instructions. Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries. Process retail sales of eyewear and accessories while utilizing retail math skills. Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth clinic experience for all patients. Stay informed about medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and relevant coding for billing purposes. Requirements Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly in optometry or ophthalmology. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with Eyefinity a plus Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs assessment. Experience with retail sales and customer service in a clinical environment is desirable. Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail while managing multiple responsibilities. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Aseptic technique knowledge is essential for maintaining a safe environment for patients.
