Teacher Assistant- Hendersonville Elementary

Lowcountry Community Action Agency, Inc. is now accepting applications for the position of a Teacher Aide .

General Description:

Under direct supervision of the Education Manager, will assist the teacher in the classroom environment at the Head Start Program Center. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and in implementing classroom activities for pre-school children. Assist teacher in developing appropriate activities to encourage in the intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth and developments of pre-school children. Assist teacher in supervising the indoor and outdoor play activities of pre-school children. Assist teacher in ensuring the adequacy of supplies and equipment needed to carry out various program activities. Assist in preparation and serving of breakfast and luncheon meals and snack to children. Arrange conference and home visits with parents of children enrolled in the Head Start Program. Teacher Aide will assume the responsibility of the teacher in the absence of the teacher. Attend training sessions, staff meetings and parent meetings. Must ride bus as a monitor to help supervise children. Must obtain CPR and First Aide Certificate.

REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and

ABILITIES

Interest in working with pre-school aged children. Ability to relate effectively to disadvantaged children and their parents and to understand and interpret their needs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have a Bi-annual TB Test. Drug Testing will take place randomly, without notification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have an Associate or Child Development Degree (CDA) with one (1) year of classroom experience with pre-school children. Must have a valid SC Driver's License.
