Primary Purpose:
Supervises students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintains a highly structured and orderly environment. Works under the general supervision of the campus principal and immediate direction and general supervision of a certified teacher daily.
Qualifications:
Education High school diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a rigorous content-oriented exam or Associate degree or 48 semester hours of college credit Certification Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtain Experience Experience as a classroom aide with emphasis on child growth and development Special Knowledge and Skills Ability to work well with children Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to use personal computer Ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential information
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support Works with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment. Works with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher. Consults classroom teachers regarding student assignments. Distributes, collects, and checks student assignments for accuracy. Maintains individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers. Student Management Manages student behavior and administers discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP). Records student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer. Supervises students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
Other Related Duties:
Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participates in professional development, department meetings, and special events as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
