KS1 Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support - Autism) Catholic Primary School, Crosby, Merseyside Full-Time September 2026
Start Pay:
£15.00 per hour Recruiting through Teaching Personnel Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a Catholic Primary School in Crosby , which is a warm, welcoming and highly regarded Catholic primary school located in Blundellsands, Merseyside. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to provide full-time, 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) from September 2026 . The Role The successful candidate will be supporting a pupil currently in Key Stage 1 who is working significantly below age-related expectations and is accessing learning at an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) level. The role will require patience, creativity and a child-centred approach to learning, helping the pupil engage with tailored activities designed to support their academic, social and emotional development. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to deliver personalised support and ensure the pupil can access the curriculum in a meaningful and positive way. Key Responsibilities Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day. Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs and developmental stage. Deliver structured interventions focused on communication, social interaction and early learning skills. Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies. Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals. Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews where required. The Ideal Candidate Has experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Understands EYFS approaches and early developmental learning. Is patient, resilient and nurturing. Can use initiative and adapt to changing needs. Has previous experience within a primary school or SEN setting. Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant childcare qualification (desirable but not essential).
