Job Description

Job Description We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support the implementation of an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child in accordance with the Montessori approach to teaching and learning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher with the daily supervision and classroom management of a group of children. Help maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment. Support the implementation of approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedules in accordance with the curriculum and programming. Observe all rules and regulations at My Quest Montessori and local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children. Encourage children's independence, creativity, exploration, and confidence through positive guidance and support. Provide positive reinforcement and clear expectations for children's behavior. Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, and maintenance of common use areas and playgrounds. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in accordance with the My Quest Montessori Employee Handbook. Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and families as needed. Assist in other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Must meet the basic requirements of the local child care regulatory agency. Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting preferred. Knowledge of the social, emotional, and developmental needs of young children. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff in a team environment. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for program facilitation, child safety, and emergency situations. Must be flexible to work between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM.
