Primary Purpose:
Assist the teacher in implementing classroom activities, supporting bilingual language development, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for preschool students. Under the supervision of a certified bilingual teacher, support daily routines, documentation, and communication to ensure compliance with district standards.
Qualifications:
Education Must meet at least one of the following requirements High school diploma or equivalent and the ability to pass a rigorous, content-based assessment; or Completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework from an accredited institution; or Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university Certification Current Texas Educational Aide Certificate or the ability to obtain upon hire Experience Experience working with children, preferably in a childcare, preschool, or early learning environment Knowledge and Skills Ability to work effectively and patiently with young children in both individual and group settings Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both English and Spanish at an academic level Proficient organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Support the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or student assignments. Help maintain a neat, orderly, and engaging classroom environment. Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment. Support teacher in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports. Provide instructional and classroom support to multiple teachers or students as assigned, which may include rotating between classrooms. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Student Management Conduct instructional activities the teacher assigns, working with individual students or small groups. Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom (e.g., lunchroom, bus, and playground duty). Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher promptly and appropriately. Assist students with personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene).
Additional Responsibilities:
Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned. Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
