04/16/2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE Provide on-site training and assistance to students with objectives in independent living and supported employment, working directly with students at their job sites, in the community, and within the school district. Oversee work training, help develop employee/worker relationships, and consult with students about work expectations. Assist in implementing students' Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), including instructional programs, self-help/personal care, and behavior management inside and outside the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED Clear and valid Texas driver's license Valid Texas educational aide certificate (prior to day one in the assignment/position) Hold an associate's degree, 48 hours of undergraduate college/university credit, or completion of District-assigned Master Teacher courses required for employment SAMA (Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression) Certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively Ability to work with adults with disabilities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR
Experience:
Experience working with high school aged students preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Support Maintain and develop job sites for students in the supported employment program. Provide job-coaching support to assigned students, including, but not limited to, social skills and behavior support. Collect data and maintain records from employers for all students in work-based learning, and designated students in supported employment; provide to teachers and supervisors monthly or as needed. Communicate effectively with classroom teachers, parents, employers, and ARD committee members regarding students' progress as needed. Collect and present data to support transition planning. Provide instructional, behavioral, and communication support for students as needed. Assist in assessment routines and the provision of accommodations. Record and report academic and behavioral data for progress-monitoring purposes. Student Management Effectively manage student behavior. Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment for students. Implement SAMA-based de-escalation techniques as needed. In a crisis situation, when a student is a threat to self or others, be able to perform a physical containment. Assist in implementing and documenting student behavior management plans as directed by the teacher. Assist in supporting and monitoring students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This may include community-based/vocational training sites, field trips, at lunch, in hallways, on/off the bus, and playground or outdoor areas. Physical Support Help meet the individual needs of students, including personal care services and/or transferring them to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning them as needed. Give other physical assistance to students as needed. Document the provision of personal care services as needed. Other Transport students between district facilities, community locations, and external job sites as needed. Maintain confidentiality. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Obtain and maintain SAMA certification.

Work inside, may work outside; possible moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, unpleasant odors, and inclement weather; exposure to noise; possible exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases
