K-12 Special Education Teaching Assistant Great Hearts Texas - 3.5 Fort Worth, TX Job Details Full-time $18 - $20 an hour 23 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Paid time off Vision insurance Professional development assistance Life insurance Qualifications School experience Teamwork Working with individuals with disabilities Working with students Associate's degree Teaching Full Job Description •In this position you will work with K-5 students OR 6-12th The Special Education Teaching Assistant will: Serve students with disabilities in the general education and special education resource classrooms at the academy: help with assignments, manage behavior, etc. Support students' emotional, behavioral, and academic needs in all instructional settings under the direction of and in collaboration with the certified Special Education teachers and General Education teachers. Additional duties may be included, depending on the experience and expertise of the candidate and the specific academy needs. Great Hearts Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free schools in San Antonio (TX), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), Phoenix (AZ), and Baton Rouge (LA). We currently provide over 27,000 K-12 students with access to a high quality, classical liberal arts education, without the barriers that often come with private prep schools. Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred Valid Educational Aide level I, II, or III certification in the state of Texas preferred Knowledge of upper school subject area(s) preferred (math, reading, science, history)
Experience:
Experience working with students with behavior challenges preferred A documented history of working well with students with disabilities preferred Work experience as a teacher, teaching assistant, or aide in a school serving K-12th grade students preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with children with disabilities Ability to help students access our rigorous curriculum Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of general office equipment Special Education at Great Hearts At Great Hearts, our Special Education Coordinators, Teachers and Teaching Assistants are integral members of our faculty, participating in all faculty-wide events and PD, while also bringing the specialized expertise that is necessary for the success of all our students. Great Hearts aims to serve all students within our special education population in a manner that affirms and reflects their dignity and rightful participation within the larger student body and academy.
