In this role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children across early childhood and preschool age groups. Your enthusiasm for child development, combined with your commitment to fostering a positive classroom atmosphere, will help children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in special education, curriculum implementation, and classroom management while making a meaningful difference in young learners' lives. Duties Assist lead teachers in planning and executing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and sensory activities Support children's individual needs by implementing strategies for behavior management and social-emotional development Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative methods when appropriate to support diverse learners Provide hands-on care for children, including toddler care routines, meal assistance, and nap times Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes exploration and learning Collaborate with teachers to adapt instructional materials for students with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Support the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by assisting in implementing tailored educational strategies Engage children in age-appropriate activities that foster early childhood development and literacy skills Participate in ongoing professional development related to special education, Montessori methods, or other specialized teaching approaches Communicate effectively with parents and team members regarding student progress and behavioral updates Experience Prior experience working with children in preschool or childcare settings is highly preferred Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages Experience supporting children with disabilities or developmental delays is advantageous Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies Background in teaching or assisting in special education environments is a plus Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn is desirable Previous private school or Montessori classroom experience is beneficial Join us as an Assistant Teacher to inspire young minds, support diverse learners, and grow your career within a dynamic educational setting.
