Qualifications:
Proficient in Spanish, both written and oral High school diploma or GED required Title I campus: 48 college hours required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test Ability to work with students and teachers Ability to manage a flexible schedule School office experience or volunteer experience preferred Strong organizational skills Ability to work within deadlines Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed
Primary Purpose:
Provide assistance in classroom as directed by teacher(s)
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to pre-kindergarten programs. Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities. Assist in carrying out the instructional program. Assist in maintaining student records and audit folders. Assist in preparation, use, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment. Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills. Assist in the teaching/learning process of working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher. Attend professional meetings as required. Ability to assist in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments. Ability to maintain flexibility in the performance of required duties. Ability to place district goals above personal goals. Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with others. Supervise individual and small group activities as directed by the teacher.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Moderate lifting, standing, stooping, and bending.
