Job Title AAT (Associate of Arts in Teaching) Field Experience Coordinator and Instructor Department LEVL - Teaching & Learning Center Employment Status FT Full-Time Full Time/Part Time Full Time Benefits Yes Months per Year 9 months Job Description The AAT Field Experience Coordinator and Faculty Member will organize, schedule, and coordinate the required field experiences of SPC's AAT students; to this end, the coordinator will develop and maintain partnerships with area school district personnel. This role also includes serving as the liaison between the area schools and SPC education students involved in classroom observations in area schools. Additionally, this professional will function as a Site Coordinator for Texas Tech University's Tech Teach program, advise AAT students, and teach AAT education courses as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AAT
Field Experience Coordinator Coordinate partnerships with area school districts to allow SPC students to complete the required 16 hours of classroom observations per education course: o Emailing superintendents and principals to receive permission for SPC AAT students to observe in their respective schools o Coordinating and overseeing the completion of criminal background checks required by schools for AAT student observations o Creating, updating, and maintaining digital forms required to coordinate AAT student observations o Scheduling four different observation experiences for each AAT student enrolled in EDUC 1301 and
EDUC 2301
o Providing lists of scheduled observations and students observing to the respective schools, EDUC course instructors, and
EDUC 1301/2301
students o Serving as the liaison between
EDUC 1301/2301
students and the schools in which they are observing o Verifying EDUC student observations, communicating with
EDUC 1301/2301
students regarding their observations, notifying schools of changes to the observation schedules, rescheduling
EDUC 1301/2301
students' observations as needed. TTU Site Coordinator Duties Work in conjunction with TTU's Tech Teach educator preparation program to oversee, instruct, and mentor their teacher candidates placed in area public schools, especially those schools in Hockley and Cochran counties. o Complete initial site coordinator training and on-going professional development (including maintaining annual NIET certification) o Attend TTU EPP meetings to contribute and share evaluation ratings of Tech Teach teacher candidates o Collaborate with district and school administrators to select high-quality mentor teachers o Conduct monthly mentor teacher trainings (supported by Tech Teach professional development facilitators) o Facilitate governance meetings to create and foster a positive relationship among SPC, TTU, and school district personnel o Supervise Tech Teach teacher candidates in clinical placements o Conduct four performance assessments of student teachers during the year-long practicum o Enter TAP ratings by coordinator and teacher candidates from performance assessments o Ensure recording, timely uploading, and accurate labeling of performance assessments into a digital warehouse (e.g. Swivl) o Analyze, interpret, and apply data findings to improve Tech Teach candidates' instructional competency o Teach a class section of the student teaching course and/or an "Intro to Teaching" course o Communicate regularly with Tech Teach program coordinators and faculty
Faculty and Other Duties Teaching Requirements:
Assigned 3-6 instructional contact hours (ICH) per semester Assist in advising AAT students Assist with recruiting events and activities
Qualifications Required Credentials :
Minimum of a Master's in Education Current teacher certification Experience teaching in Texas EC-12 public schools
Preferred Credentials :
10 years classroom experience in Texas EC-12 public schools
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Consistent with instructional area.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
