PRIMARY PURPOSE
To assist the teacher in general daily classroom activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED Texas Educational Aide Certificate
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Exhibit effective working relationships with students, staff and school community. Ability to communicate effectively

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students at teacher's request. Plan and implement pre-kindergarten physical education instruction based on district provided curriculum. Help maintain discipline and other non-instructional functions. Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher. Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units. Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current. Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc. Escort children to and from various rooms. Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations. Applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Physical demands/environmental factors:
Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 lbs. Standing, walking, talking, and hearing. Climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Noise level is usually loud at a standard acceptable level for this environment.
