• Learning and development support Who we're looking for The eMPower Program Assistant supports the daily implementation of classroom programming for HIPsters with higher levels of need, including those with intellectual disabilities, complex medical considerations, and/or age-related cognitive changes such as dementia.

This role works closely with the eMPower Program Coordinator to provide hands-on support, ensure a safe and structured environment, and help deliver meaningful, person-centered activities. The Program Assistant plays a critical role in fostering engagement, maintaining consistency, and supporting each HIPster's individual needs with dignity and respect. Essential Functions Classroom & Program Support

• Support daily classroom operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment
• Assist in implementing curriculum and activities aligned with Life Long Learning principles and adapted for individuals with complex needs
• Help facilitate small group and 1:1 activities that promote engagement, independence, and quality of life
• Maintain consistency in routines, transitions, and daily schedules HIPster Support
• Provide direct support to HIPsters based on individualized needs, including communication, mobility, personal care, and medical needs as appropriate
• Follow behavior support strategies and individualized plans as directed by the eMPower leadership and instructor
• Monitor HIPster engagement, mood, and well-being, and communicate any concerns to the eMPower leadership and instructor
• Support safe participation in classroom and community-based activities
• Drive and/or accompany HIPsters in the community for Community Based Instruction Team Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with the eMPower leadership and instructor to ensure a cohesive team approach
• Take direction from the eMPower leadership and instructor while also demonstrating initiative in supporting classroom needs
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and team-oriented environment Communication
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with staff, HIPsters, and families as appropriate
• Share relevant observations and updates with the eMPower leadership and instructor to support continuity of care and programming Safety & Compliance
• Follow all HHSC, ISS, and organizational policies and procedures
• Support implementation of safety protocols, including emergency procedures
• Assist with documentation as required (attendance, incident reporting, ISS notes, etc.) Program Support & Environment
• Assist in preparing classroom materials and setting up activities
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sensory-considerate environment
• Support transitions throughout the day, including arrival, lunch, and dismissal Competencies (Knowledge, skills and abilities) Experience working with adults with special needs a plus. Experience working with behaviors is a plus. Must have experience in using Microsoft applications and Google Drive. Understands instruction methods including curriculum-base instruction. Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent, required
• 2+ years' experience as a teaching assistant or paraprofessional, preferred Specific Skills
• Current driver's license, acceptable driving record and valid car insurance required.
• Should be proficient in Microsoft and Google platforms Working conditions: This position will be required to
• Sit, stand, and bend throughout the day
• Occasionally lift up to 75lbs.
• Clean up body fluids to maintain safety and dignity of HIPsters All potential employees must pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay:

$15.14 - $17.30 per hour
