Vashisht College of Medicine at Texas A&M University seeks to fill one (1) academic professional track (non-tenure) position for a full-time, 11-month academic appointment with an anticipated start date in the summer of 2026. Applications will be accepted at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor, commensurate with qualifications. The chosen candidate for this position will serve as a Co-Clerkship Director for the Internal Medicine Clerkship and as a Faculty Advisor for campus-based medical student research. The Co-Clerkship Director provides essential leadership for the Internal Medicine Clerkship across the Austin/Round Rock clinical training sites. This clerkship is a foundational component of the undergraduate medical curriculum and a key determinant of student readiness for residency training. The role requires direct accountability for administration, coordination, and continuous quality improvement, including License Committee on Medical Education (LCME) compliance; development and oversight of curriculum objectives and assessments; faculty support and development; student performance monitoring; and maintenance of critical partnerships with affiliated health systems. The Faculty Advisor for campus-based medical student research mentors and guides students in the development and execution of scholarly projects. This includes training in research design, methods, and dissemination across clinical research, quality improvement/quality assurance (QI/QA), and medical education research. The advisor supports students through regulatory processes and promotes ethical research practices. The role fosters scholarly growth and facilitates presentation and publication of student work. Additionally, the chosen candidate will oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of pre-clinical clinical skills education, ensuring integration of clinical skills, professionalism, and patient-centered care across the continuum. This includes direct teaching, clinical precepting, student assessment, feedback, and remediation, in areas such as lectures, procedural skills workshops, and simulation-based learning within Practice of Medicine courses, Capstone, Clinical Sciences Integration Exercise (CSIE), and Transition to Clerkship (TTC). The chosen candidate's primary academic responsibility will be the education and teaching of medical students in the pre-clinical and clinical years. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: development and delivery of course content that is up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with pre-existing learning objectives and course offerings create an environment conducive to learning that improves student outcomes collaborate with other course directors and faculty members to integrate content across different courses and/or conduct educational activities within a simulated clinical environment The chosen candidate's secondary academic responsibility will be in the area of service, serving as a role model for future physicians as a career advisor and physician mentor. Additional service includes participation on campus and college-wide committees including but not limited to the Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee, and Student Promotions Committee.
