Position Description The Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time, promotion-eligible but non-tenure, Assistant Professor of Instruction position. We seek an experienced and dedicated instructor to teach face-to-face lecture courses for freshman biology majors, nonmajors biology, and other related courses as needed and serve as the Director of the B.S. Biology and Education (Life Science teaching certification program) undergraduate degree program housed within the Department of Biology. In support of the B.S. Biology and Education degree, the successful candidate will teach an upper-level course on life science pedagogy, serve as clinical teaching faculty coordinator and field supervisor, and work closely with the College of Education to support shared students. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental and university meetings, committees, service activities, and assume other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Biology.
Required Qualifications An earned doctorate in biology (or closely related life science field).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Previous teaching experience in biology ( or closely related life science field).
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated excellence in college or university level teaching as instructor of record in large enrollment introductory biology (or closely related life science field).
Proficiency in the use of instructional technologies.
Served as an instructor or supervisor in an educator preparation program.
Experience teaching at the secondary level and/or collaborating with secondary science teachers.
