Job Description Primary Purpose:

Provide support and training for teachers, staff, and parents to address and support students with a variety of needs and conditions. Responsible for overseeing the district's Special Education Transition Program and ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements to provide guidance and support to special education students and their families as students transition from high school to employment, trade school, higher education and independent living

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of behavior interventions Knowledge of curriculum designed for students with disabilities Knowledge of Esped Ability to conduct an FBA Ability to train others in the de-escalation strategies and restraints (SAMA) General knowledge of high school graduation requirements Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding Transition Planning Understanding of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act; state and national transition resources Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience as a special education teacher or in work related to the certified field. SISD Administrative Pay Grade 2; 197 days
