Vernon High School Primary Purpose:

Assist the Life Skills teacher in providing instructional support and personal care to students with disabilities. Help create a positive, structured learning environment that supports student growth, independence, and success.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required Must meet requirements for Educational Aide certification Experience working with students with special needs preferred Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist the teacher with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) Provide instructional support in small group and one-on-one settings Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment Assist students with daily living skills, including personal care if needed Support students during transitions, including arrival, dismissal, and movement throughout campus Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources as directed Maintain confidentiality of student information Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

May involve lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility Work in a classroom setting with students who may have varying physical and behavioral needs
