The job of Adult Education Teacher Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within Alpine Adult Education general lab with specific responsibility for assisting individual students in a variety of academic subject areas; assisting with student record keeping; monitoring and engaging with students on attendance matters; and assisting with GED curriculum.
Essential Functions:
Assists in developing various types of curriculum and study programs (e.g. GED test preparation, student study programs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that student educational needs are met. Assists students individually with lesson assignments (e.g. mathematics, language arts, reading comprehension, social studies, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts. Consults with counselors and teachers relating to student needs and progress for the purpose of formalizing learning plans for each student. Contacts students using the District's designated student tracking and follow up tools for the purpose of providing assistance to students as well as ensuring program goals and state mandates are met. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts. Inputs student information into state data tracking program for the purpose of meeting program accountability requirements. Meets with new and continuing students for the purpose of developing action plans to prepare them to pass the GED test and transition to job training or higher education. Participates in meetings and professional workshops (e.g. teaching strategies, instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information to perform the instructional program functions. Prepares approved lessons and materials for the purpose of providing individualized instruction for assigned students online and in person. Supports high school students in learning how to navigate the District's online learning curriculum for the purpose of ensuring students' ability to understand the content and submit assignments.
Requirements:
age 16+ High school diploma or equivalent. Job related experience is required
