Job Goal:
The Paraprofessional is responsible for providing direction, assistance, foresight, and intervention for specific accommodations, needs, and plans for supported students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware Instructional Paraprofessional Certification in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531 Additional qualifications and/or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and Administration. Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements Instructional Paraprofessional experience in an urban setting required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to recognize and handle challenges, stressors, and academic difficulties surrounding students and modify instruction accordingly
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Support Services, and in partnership with Grade Level Educators the Instructional Paraprofessional will: Assess progress toward goals/benchmarks as established by the teacher, special education department, 504 or IEP plan Assist teacher in the development and execution of instructional goals of each lesson Assist with all student body population within the classroom as needed Make modifications and accommodations for the special education population through pre-planning with the teacher Create and maintain appropriate filing systems within classrooms to properly track required IEP/504 documentation

  • The ability to support teacher systems and procedures within the classroom, discuss concerns and progress with parents and staff as called upon, and articulate student needs as they change
