Position Summary:
Assist teachers in providing instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to students with severe learning disabilities in both general and special education settings.
Responsibilities:
Provide individualized or small-group academic support according to IEP goals and teacher direction. Assist with implementing behavior intervention plans and managing student behavior. Collect data and maintain records on student progress and behavior. Support students with daily living skills (e.g., feeding, toileting, mobility) as needed. Prepare, organize, and adapt learning materials and classroom activities. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and related service providers. Promote student independence, social skills, and inclusion in all school activities. Maintain confidentiality and uphold school and district policies. Participate in professional development and training related to special education. Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator. Student Supervision Supervise students at lunch, during recess, in the classroom, and on field trips, as assigned. Proctor assessments. Professional Development Attend collaboration meetings as assigned. Participate in provided and assigned learning opportunities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or training in special education preferred) Paraprofessionals must be highly qualified with 2 years post high school education OR a passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessments. We can make arrangements for paras to take the Assessments as needed. Registered Behavior Technician certification Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred Patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team Hours are between 8 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Wage listed is starting pay. Increases are dependent on education, certifications, and experience.
