2 JOB SUMMARY The job of Paraprofessional I is to assist assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of students and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are: High school diploma or equivalent Per Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), interested applicants must be Highly Qualified to be considered for the position and have completed one of the following: completed at least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours), or obtained an associates (or higher) degree from an accredited higher education institution, or satisfied a rigorous state or local assessment (Parapro Assessment/PRAXIS ETS) with a score of 460 or higher The higher education institution official transcripts, or college diploma, or a copy of the Paraprofessional Assessment must be provided with your application or upon a contingent offer of employment. Unofficial transcripts can be a placeholder until official transcripts are provided Effective communication skills with both children and adults, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English; proficiency in grammar and punctuation Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, scanner, fax machines, etc.) and Microsoft OfficePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment Knowledgeable of age-appropriate activities; stages of child development; classroom management techniques; and development of effective lesson plans; lead small groups and learn through play Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understandESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Adapt classroom work under the direction of the teacher and provide a method to support and reinforce lesson plans while adhering to safety practices Administer tests and evaluations, proctor tests, under supervision of teacher (e.g., DRA, DIBELS, observational data for IEP goals, etc.) monitor student progress Confers with teacher assisting in evaluating student progress and implementing student objectives Implement students' learning and behavior plans to meet students' social and behavioral interventions, health care plans, and ensure compliance with IEPs Monitor individual students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, library, playground activities, field trip, bus boarding and exiting, etc.) providing a safe and positive learning environment Provide appropriate classroom intervention with students under the Teacher's direction (e.g., booster groups, individual instruction, small group instruction, etc.) improving student learning and academic success Prepare teaching materials, perform record-keeping and clerical functions, and organize related reports (e.g., worksheets, scheduling, copying, data recording, grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to implement lesson plans and document student progress to support teacher and administrator Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, adhering to Education Code, and administrative and school policies Administer first aid/CPR to students when necessary Assists other school personnel as required and needed (e.g., instructors, site administration, other paraprofessionals, etc.) ensuring an efficient and effective work environment Independently interpret guidelines, maintain confidentiality, be attentive to detail, and adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform duties Participate in various meetings, and workshops to receive and convey information. Read a variety of manuals, present information to others, follow written and verbal communication Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitEMPLOYEE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. This job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment.
