Join our team as a Benefits Program Aide and support individuals and families as they access important financial, medical, and nutritional assistance programs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys customer service, organization, and making a positive impact in the community. The Benefits Program Aide performs clerical and customer support work related to determining eligibility for government assistance programs. Responsibilities include applicant screening, record maintenance, data entry, case processing, and routine office support under general supervision.
TYPICAL TASKS
Assist applicants with completing forms and gathering eligibility information. Screen and verify applicant information; prepare eligible cases for processing. Maintain and update client records, payment histories, and case files. Respond to phone inquiries regarding public assistance programs and services. Process EBT-related forms and assist with appeals and fair hearings. Prepare reports and perform general office duties including filing, typing, data entry, and mail processing. Attend staff meetings and training sessions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Vocational/Educational Requirement:
Requires a high school diploma or GED/HSE education.
Experience:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of six months experience in customer service or general clerical work involving contact with the public.

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
